India faces up to potential coronavirus crisis, but is the country really prepared?

It's all part of India's bid to stop the coronavirus pandemic in its tracks.India is the world's second most populous country and the fifth biggest economy, with trade connections all over the world.Despite that, the country of 1.34 billion has appeared to so far avoid the full hit of the pandemic. It has only 492 confirmed cases of coronavirus and nine deaths. By contrast, South Korea -- which has a population only 3.8% the size of India's -- has more than 9,000 cases.

4% of the country's urban population live in low quality, semi-permanent structures, known as slums. Many of the homes here don't have bathrooms or running water. i feel there are more cases in India than US but due to lack of facilities and govt's policy to suppress the information.. there seems no hop e to get actual info

If you believe that a nation of 1.3 billion people, one of the most densely populated at that, with rampant poverty and a lack of awareness/hygiene, not to mention a close knit community culture, has somehow managed to have less cases than Switzerland,then you're hopelessly naive

India is simply not testing OR reporting it. As simple as that.

India have it under control so far given our population we have 1.5 billion people but the death count is just 10 .

They just don't test... It's like in Russia or Africa, increase in pneumonia and a death is just written as a death, no further tests.

Probably their body built defenses already…. it’s dirty there!
