‘In The Heights’ review: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first musical comes alive at Cleveland Play House

Chibueze Ihuoma along with the rest of the cast of the Cleveland Play House production of "In The Heights" at the Allen Theatre. Cleveland Play House’s season finale, might be the most unexpected show the regional theater has put on in years.

The show, winner of 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical, is set in the Latino enclave of Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan, where its denizens are caught between pursuing their dreams while trying to stay true to their heritage and community. It’s a delicate and difficult balance, particularly with the neighborhood on the brink of gentrification.
