Government contractors erect a section of Pentagon-funded border wall along the Colorado River, Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019 in Yuma, Ariz. The 30-foot high wall replaces a five-mile section of Normandy barrier and post-n-beam fencing, shown at left, along the the International border that separates Mexico and the United States. Construction began as federal officials revealed a list of Defense Department projects to be cut to pay for President Donald Trump's wall.
This 5-mile section of fencing is where President Donald Trump’s most salient campaign promise — to build a wall along the entire southern border — is taking shape. Critics say a wall is useless when most of those apprehended turn themselves in to Border Patrol agents in the hope they can be eventually released while their cases play out in immigration court.
It spent just under $15 million for the setup and services for four months, including meals, laundry and security, but officials are evaluating whether to keep it running past next month as the number of arrivals in Yuma and across the southern border haveThe drop is largely due to the Mexican government’s efforts to stop migrants from heading north after Trump threatened tariffs earlier this year to force Mexico to act.
He’s seen barriers evolve from easily collapsible landing mats installed by agents and the National Guard to the sophisticated, multibillion-dollar projects now being done by private contractors.
From Israel to America. When we build borders we build exclusion, when we build exclusion we build barriers to freedom.
Wow, so glad that money was diverted away from VA programs to build this thing people will just walk around. WorthIt
No it’s not!!!! This is refurbishment of old sections of wall. No new sections have gone up!
Replacement not new
When is the check coming from Mexico with a bunch of thank-yous in it coming
Can anyone prevent transhumance? I think no wall would stand up to the explosives ! will make it blow up the wall..!
It’s moving too slow.
It should be 100' x 100', with a canal behind it filled with alligators and water moccasins.
graffiti on the sunny side should be interesting
Fence...
What a beautiful sight. Kick em Out&Keep em Out. Mex. is a failed State & cant B resurrected. They have slid into the Crushing Black Oblivion of Total Chaos. All Bcause of Drugs. Cartel murders have begun a Genocide On-the-Installment Plan. The total is 25K & Rising. Its Africa!
Racist wall.
By the time it's finished a drone will simply get a person over it.
Sadly Mexico is doing more to protect America than TheDemocrats
Do we prefer Walls or Detention Camps? Americans & immigrants are screwed either way😐
Excellent!
the wall is a symbol, but sadly. a great country will always attract immigrants legal or illegal. Want a great country but without illegal immigrants? the world is not running this way
A lot of Dems are pissed because when a Wall is built it will but the number of sex traffickers bring kids here to be sex slaves.
Isn't the contractor a huge Trump donor? That probably cost a 100,000,00.
The annexation of northern Mexico will be cheaper because the wall will be shorter. realDonaldTrump
You all are bitching about cost. This thing will pay for itself by the fact that we won't be housing/feeding a good amount of people it keeps out. Plus they won't be miserable in a detention center.
Ladders for sale! Who needs a 30 foot ladder? 😂 stupid wall.
take a look, trumpies. there it is.
The trump wall was supposed to be paid for by Mexicans. That wall ain't it...
Can’t they walk around this?
75 miles is now a short section.
When do you suppose people will begin to imagine simply walking around the thing?
You mean part of a promise....
How much of this section of wall has Mexico paid for?
God, that’s ugly.
And New Mexico paid for it.
