Marianne begins her project like any other painter who approaches the female subject as an object — as a body in parts. After her first day with Héloïse, she ruminates on Héloïse’s earlobe, hair, and hands, and that evening we see her spread sketches of Héloïse’s body parts across the floor.

MaryMcDonnell10 I'm still crazy mad at the Césars (french equivalent of the Oscars). This movie was nominated 11 times and only won best photography while it would have deserved more. A movie (good but still) featuring only men won almost everything. And they gave best director award to a rapist
