In brief: Thrift shop raffle to benefit Children’s Hospital Oakland

While supporting the Bambino Thrift Shop and in turn UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, The Bambino is celebrating 30 years in business on College Avenue in North Oakland’s Rockridge district with a raffle that has roughly 30 prizes for players to win. Tickets will be on sale May 7-18.

Piedmont High School’s Bryson Cheney has been awarded the Davis Scholarship to attend UWC Red Cross Nordic. His involvement with the Piedmont Community Service Crew underscores his commitment to community service, amassing more than 100 hours of volunteer work, and he is recognized within the organization for his significant contributions.

Cavenaugh what city officials, staff and resident have accomplished together in the past and what lies ahead. A reception featuring light refreshments will follow the presentation. All are welcome, and RSVP is requested online atAfter almost 30 years in its current location, The Bookmark Bookstore, a nonprofit bookstore owned and operated by the Friends of the Oakland Public Library , will move to a new home nearby at 933 Broadway in Old Oakland.

Discounts apply to already low prices of $3 to $8 for most items in the store, including a huge inventory of gently used and donated books, CDs, DVDs, LPs, comics, puzzles and more. All proceeds benefit Oakland’s public libraries.
