CHICAGO — Illinois health officials are reporting what could be United States’ first death tied to vaping.
In a Friday news release, the Illinois Department of Public Health says a person who recently vaped died after being hospitalized with “severe respiratory illness.” The agency didn’t give any other information about the patient, including a name or where the person lived. Melaney Arnold, an agency spokeswoman, says the death is the first in the state that could be linked to vaping. The release also says the number of people who have experienced respiratory illness after vaping doubled to 22 in the past week.nationwide that may be tied to vaping, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said no deaths associated with vaping had been reported.
And yet obesity, cigarettes, opioids and guns fly under your radar? You have your priorities mixed up. 7000 chemicals vs water vapor, you choose which is safer.
It's not surprising, vapers draw more into their lungs than cigarette smokers. Plus they seem to puff/inhale more often.
My hypothesis is that the danger lies in the creation of transition metal ions (such as copper 2+) when coils degrade from heating. These ions have long been shown to have the ability to bind to and cleave proteins in vivo, with pH dependent kinetics.
TobaccoFreeKids May be Why don’t you wait for the facts before you put these BS stories out...I guess we have different lungs here in the USA than other countries. The Royal college of physicians told us cigs kill years before we admitted it..why doom vaping, seems they didn’t
irresponsible journalism. doesn't even report what was being vaped. Big Tobacco paying these money hungry media outlets to spread fake news. realDonaldTrump was right when he labeled them FAKE!
You left out one important information for the people that you're trying to scare... The person was also vaping CBDOils at the same time. They died from the CBD Oil not the vape juice that is harmless unless you drink it. ImOneOfTheNurses that took care of the patient.
Doctors keep telling people that putting smoke and chemicals in lungs bad, but people say there are no long term studies. CommonSense
Vaping isn't to blame. Its the BLACK MARKET CARTS KNOWN TO HAVE HORRIBLE CHEMICALS YOU SHOULDN'T INHALE.
TobaccoFreeKids It is not a vape that did this. It is the black market THC cartridge that did. Present the facts if you are going to attempt to point fingers.
So why do we allow vaping ads?
TobaccoFreeKids I'm sorry you are unable to equitably source your information. He purchased Black market THC which was improperly concentrated by his drug dealer, I think that's important to mention. you don't blame needles on heroin overdose why blame this on vaping?
TobaccoFreeKids Wow. I wouldn't have expected to jump on the bandwagon of totally ignoring journalistic integrity. This is pathetic and everyone involved should be fired for incompetence.
Except theyre putting illegal drugs in the vape...
Vaping has now killer more people than marijuana lol
Duh!....enough said.
Ban vaping!
Vaping had only been popular for a few years. These illnesses take a while to manifest and do their damage. I think this is just the beginning of people dying from vaping. It's going to start happening more and more.
Maybe you should find out what exactly he was vaping first.

Uhhh I feel like maybe it has less to do with the act of vaping and more about the device and its ability to harbor bacteria.
I'm surprised that people are actually surprised that this could happen. Surgeon General said years ago that breathing in smoke was detrimental to one's health. Why should vaping be any different?
1 out of millions, is this point when we're supposed to freak out? Is that what the narrative is driving at?
Great headline. Horrible journalism.
This is just an attempt to try and make vaping as cool as smoking
HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED BECAUSE OF CIGARETTES TODAY, ASSOCIATED PRESS? YOU HAVE ENOUGH CHARACTERS TO TWEET THE NUMBER BACK TO ME?
