and how it has so horrifically, extraordinarily, outrageously and disproportionately affected Black people, and yet we don’t always extrapolate. What are the comorbidities? Let’s just take the three main ones: asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Diabetes: Well, we’ve learned the term food deserts, and we’ve now got the term food apartheid. What it boils down to is, ain’t no appropriate food in so many areas. Where are farmers markets, supermarkets, places where fresh vegetables and things that don’t come in a box or a can or a jar can be had? This is playing out not just in rural Mississippi, but also in Brooklyn and Brownsville and other places where a lot of urban people are all over the country.
Just those three comorbidities make the pandemic so much more fatal and disastrous for the Black community. And they’re hiding in plain sight.I was class of 1968 getting out of college, which means that in a very, very real way, the past is prologue. Age, in its own way, provides another lens for looking at things. I think that there is perhaps an ingrained optimism of youth. I don’t know if the corollary is an ingrained pessimism of age; I’m certainly not pessimistic.
It’s unfortunate. The same within the Latino community, some factors made them also the most affected by the pandemic. The positive thing is that we can focus now on improving healthy habits and lifestyle on our communities to be more prepared in the future. africooks

This idiot seriously implied that being black in america is so tense that you get high blood pressure because of it. In what clown world does someone take a person like that seriously. Absolutely insane.
It’s because of a lack of basic hygiene discipline. Probably.
If it is so fatal, why did no one tell them not to gather by the thousands to protest? You weren’t concerned for the black people during protests!
