That's because more positives means the tests are being used mainly to confirm obvious cases, and as a result health authorities are not getting a clear picture on the scope of the epidemic in their area. In places where every close contact and suspected case has been tested, the percent of negative cases is high. Ryan says in"We would certainly like to see countries testing at the level of ten negative tests to one positive, as a general benchmark of a system that's doing enough testing to pick up all cases," Ryan says.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says that testing is important for both the care of an individual, and for public health officials who are trying to slow the spread of the virus. "Without knowing, without testing, it's like moving blindfolded," he says, pointing to how South Korean health officials identified
Honestly no country is testing enough and never will. That ought to be obvious to any sensible person.
UncrcU the way media and twitter talked about was insane! I tried to rail against it, but it was all this: known contact? Symptoms? Spend a rare test on them! They already qualify for isolation and treatment, test someone you don’t already know that about, THANK YOU.
Nah fuck WHO and test everyone
This data is not reliable....🤷♀️
Barring first person contact with a confirmed case, people have to have specific symptoms of presumptive Covid19 to get tested. If their Covid test is negative and flu tests are negative, what exactly do these people have? My granddaughter is in exactly this situation.

The Trump administration wanted to cover-up the pandemic reality, pretending that most areas of U.S. would experience low numbers of infection. Now, testing remains prohibitive when the needed data could inform better strategies. Will we be prepared for the second wave?
jeffcodad Where are the tests?!
Imagine how many people out there are walking around without symptoms but are still spreading the virus. Very scary.
TiffanyDCross Hello No Kidding!! TESTING THE OBVIOUS CASES- Acute Respiratory Failure at the hospital- WHY? We KNOW they have it! TEST THE People with NO SYMPTOMS so you can gage the community! The FOCUS MUST SHIFT NOW!
Until there are tests for all for free, WHO's statement is just an observation of sampling error. Didn't we hear 'anybody who wants a test gets a test'? Where is it?
This is the same organization that refuses to mention or even talk about Taiwan and praises China's government for it's great job of handling and dealing with the virus. Why are you protecting this communist regime? Oh that's right you are in bed with them just like Democrats.

Folks better do what the WHO suggests here... or else wait 3 weeks for their whole country to potentially end up in the throes of this cataclysm
