Which Democratic candidate would benefit more from a recession: a moderate such as Joe Biden, or someone like Elizabeth Warren? Primary and general-election voters may disagree, writes GeraldFSeib

The financial markets last week went into a temporary seizure on signs that maybe, just maybe, a recession is rolling in.

Trade tensions are growing, the Chinese economy is slowing, Germany actually reported a slight economic contraction. And the American economy, while doing well overall, is nearly as stimulated as it can be already and susceptible to being dragged down by this international undertow.

GeraldFSeib People wanting recession don’t care re ordinary Amer. Their wealth makes them impervious. Hate makes them cruel & greedy. Hate: no bounds. Ordin Amer will suffer & may not recover. Why be unnecessarily cruel? Hate so powerful prevents rational thought. Warren et al prefer hate!

GeraldFSeib No one benefits from a recession.

GeraldFSeib Time is running out for anything other than 2008 type economic collapse to hurt Trump

GeraldFSeib This must be serious! Warren is pointing with her whole hand!

GeraldFSeib People will vote for Bernie2020, in spite of, or in conjunction with, how much corporate interests try to erase him. See, inter alia: Detailed Maps of the Donors Powering the 2020 Democratic Campaigns

GeraldFSeib To think the Dems have to wish for a recession to get elected, even as they know what that means. They want socialism anyway, which is the opposite of a robust economy! What Democrats should be promising is that they can do it better than Venezuela, because that was a disaster!

GeraldFSeib Anyone who advocates for a recession just to get rid of the President is just a freaking moron. He has 4 more years (unless he gets voted out) and then we will have to deal with who ever! But to want our country to do bad is just plain stupidity.

GeraldFSeib The fact that you’re fueling this recession narrative is pathetic. Just as pathetic as the Democratic candidates. Recession doesn’t benefit the American people - how about that as a headline.

GeraldFSeib The next democrat hoax, recession 😂 We will not fall for it.

GeraldFSeib There’s no recession. Stop the Dems narratives.

GeraldFSeib OMG. Just stop hoping for bad news!!!

GeraldFSeib I would take a short-term recession, if all American multinational corporations got out of China.

GeraldFSeib The agendas of all Dem candidates are based on Big Government High Taxes Open Borders and Exploitation of Victims.Nothing that they support will create economic growth and prosperity. All of them should be comfortable with recession and slow growth. They want to be like the Euros

GeraldFSeib Democrat line up is so singularly unimpressive, recession In even Aug 20 would not spoil Trump's chances

GeraldFSeib The winner is one who whines loudest, endorsing more government control because many are so averse to riding out a storm and shouldn’t be in the market. As government controls more industries, what happens to those stocks and bonds and your portfolio if you happen to “own” some?

GeraldFSeib New low for the WSJ running a puff piece on the political benefits of a recession for Democrats. I wonder how the WSJ would feel if 75% of the writers were laid off due to a recession?

GeraldFSeib What a sickening approach!

GeraldFSeib Which Americans would benefit more from a recession? Why are you championing a recession? Would a recession not hurt the poorest of our citizens - and the illegal immigrants? Why in the hell are the TheDemocrats cheering for this?!

GeraldFSeib Democrats won’t be happy until we’re not happy. And broke.

GeraldFSeib Trump was in debt 800 million bankrupt the bankers let him handle it now He says you have no choice but to vote for him after tanking the Economy and going another 2 Trillion in debt what would Trump do? what he always does borrow more money run up more debt and bankrupt the USA

GeraldFSeib Stop.

GeraldFSeib Reality✅ Nobody benefits from a recession. Hope this helps.

GeraldFSeib My Philosophy : The moment someone faces CAMERA while holding MICROPHONE to share his/her Social service Plan/Status......immediately his/her OUTPUT of that Social Service will get reduced by 20%..... so always do the Social service in hidden mode...........not like Politicians.

GeraldFSeib I think Warren has a plan to minimize the risk of future recessions. With the exception of the tech boom recession which was naturally occurring, all the recessions have been caused by republicans manipulating the markets.

GeraldFSeib All Dems are lying in debates other than Bernie who is lying with data

GeraldFSeib Don’t do this

GeraldFSeib In the general, Biden would likely benefit. Voters would see him as a steady hand in uncertain times. The Dem primary hasn't even started to get as ugly as it invariably will, with the far-left taking a scorched earth approach that will weaken the eventual nominee ala 2016.

GeraldFSeib Bad question. If either of them are elected, you will see a backslide of every positive gain thus far. Biden is unconscious. Warren is Huey Long in a pants suit.

GeraldFSeib whichever lie the low IQ dem voters buy.

GeraldFSeib Given the goal is to beat Trump, I doubt that Dems, Indy’s, and some R’s will have little problem backing the eventual Dem nominee.

Here are five risks facing the US economyFears of a brewing global recession were renewed this week as markets whipsawed over President Donald Trump's trade war with China as well as disappointing economic data from both Germany and China. An earthquake on the West Coast, either Cascadia subduction zone or Southern San Andreas, or both. Too little inflation. Oh, the horror. I know you want the economy to tank, CNN, so you can blame it on Trump (and undoubtedly white nationalist). But saying it's tanking over and over isn't going to make it so. The biggest risk is the creature occupying the WH

Embrace the slime in this Southern okra relishIt might not win any beauty contests but it will elicit bursts of pleasure from those you serve it to, or at least those with good taste to embrace the goo. Eww. No! My favorite would be okra gumbo; it's a project. A quick substitute would be to take your relish recipe leaving out the raisns & sugar - use Rotel tomatoes (spicy) - add a few chopped up jalapanos, cumin, oregano - spice it up and serve hot. Can use frozen chopped, or baby okra latimes No thanks
