IBM 👍

While this is true, companies should also be willing to hire new college grads with little or no experience because in fact, most degree courses prepare individuals for the careers they pursue.

Employers also need to offer job training and promote based on talent, ability and work rather than degree. I have seen it in several jobs over time that a degree is chosen over the ability to actually do a great job.

IBM In India it's so bad that you don't get funding unless one of your cofounders is a iit grad 😳Companies don't consider a job resume unless it's atleast a MTech.

ceo'S DO YOU know what overpaid CEO'S opinion I value? 0

That's what I say as well..It's ridiculous..extensive skills, experience, etc should account for something..If no degree no job. Crazy.

Ginni is the most approachable CEO I’ve heard speak about their strategy

“The half-life of skills is 3 to 5 years”. Absolutely, the younger generations will have many careers In their lifetime.

~ i had one job for a couple years after college decades ago that actually had somethin to do with my degree… kinda got sidetracked and lost my head in the clouds after that.

It’s not fair that only smart people are accepted to Medical Schools! We demand more stupid Doctors NOW.

Let’s make higher education even more meaningless in America!

How about keeping those with job skills instead of firing almost everybody over 40, Ginni?

College is a money making scam these days, and a haven for the ultra-left feminists teaching that all of human history is the systematic oppression of women, by men.

Says the woman what sacked how many people in the last 10 years?

And don’t forget 20yrs experience

Rometty is driving IBM into the dirt and is seen wholly as one of the worst CEOs in America. Interviewing her is a complete waste of time.

This absolutely an offensive interview. Don’t be fooled. She and her cronies are determined to screw you. She will replace you with a machine at the drop of a hat. Apprenticeship is code for slave labor. Low wage, never rise.

And not just for the color of their skin like democrats like to force employers to do.

We used to do that. It as then called racist and sexist. So, now we do the fair and equal thing of hiring based on gender and race.

could not be said better

1980 I WAS HIRED BY A LARGE TELECOM AT A YOUNG AGE. THEY PUT ME THRU 3 MONTHS OF INITIAL SCHOOL PAID TRAINING B4 I EVEN STARTED THE JOB OPENING. LET THE CORPORATE WORLD TRAIN THE SKILLS NEEDED AGAIN!

With due respect to the degree-holders, there are a lot of people who are natural in their talents and potentials who are failed to be noticed by others because they lack school experience but rich in practical knowhow!

AMEN GM!

we serve our country, yes we are employed but lots are still out there looking for employment

How about intelligence and good old know how. A degree doesn’t guarantee the know what they are doing and certainly doesn’t have any promise of diversity and flexibility. Some of the dumbest people I know have PhD’s!

I totally agree.

Who wants to hire me?

I thought that was criteria for being hired

No shit.

Agree ..look at AOC ..great example

It’s the entire package. Same as accepting a job you look at Salary/benefits/travel time....Hiring you look at degrees/skills/work ethic...

much of the time, energy, and $$$ spent for high school and college a total waste - many are working at jobs that have nothing to do with college degree- time skills training become the responsibility of business - education 100 years behind

take cnn for example...… fakenewscnn prefers people hire based on skin color and other ABSURD criteria

Close some Universities and open more trade schools.

Employers should hire based on skill and not skin color. endaffirmativeaction

Employers should hire the best candidate for the job, not just fill a quota!

MERIT ... and especially NOT for RACE ...

Degrees are about regurgitating someone else's thoughts and ideas.

Employer: 'Do you have experience of success in this industry?' Applicant: 'Yes 10 years with a proven success history!' Employer: 'Are you 1/1024th native American?' Applicant: 'No, but I identify as Transgender!' quandary

Odd, that's Trump's immigration policy in a nutshell. MondayMotivation

Police Departments still hire people because they’re related to a current racist cop that’s why the bad cops run the show.

You need to be hired first to develop skills.

What a novel idea.........

Cutting edge /sarcasm

Balance that with people skills?

why did we have to go to school i wanted to work from the beginning? seemed like slavery, to indoctrinate us with evil culture words but i needed adhd medicine to be like terence mckenna a mycologist methmatician just running my mouth kapow whats how suite bow stern roll tack crn

Seconded 🙋

Don’t tell Bernie.

Paying attention to the degree is the cancer of society

I agree. We need to stop pretending a bunch of liberal controlled academic centers of learning will get you to higher places. They don't. Because they aren't results driven. Only businesses are results driven and if you have the skills to provide -- that is good enough.

Underemployment is rampant, they’re not hiring for degrees or job skills 😂

Nor race
