My friends, I can’t believe I am saying this, in a sports column, after all we’ve been through these past six months, after crawling out of the no-sports desert of the spring and early summer, but here goes:Yeah. I said it. I’m grateful for the work, but I’m overwhelmed. I’m guessing everyone who loves sports is overwhelmed. It’s the middle of September, and we are amid the wildest smorgasbord of sporting events in the history of sports.
I know that sounds like the sort of nonsense hyperbole sportswriters say, but it’s actually true. There are now days when there are games and events from the NFL, college football, the NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball, WNBA, Premier League, F1, Major League Soccer, National Women’s Soccer League, Nascar, cricket, boxing, bass fishing, and on and on and on.I missed your favorite sport.
jasongay 44% of college football fans say they agree with the Big Ten’s decision to move forward with its 2020 season, compared with 37% who disagree and another 19% who are neutral. Full study:
jasongay Nobody's watching what's your problem
jasongay Not really ...viewership is down more than 30% for each sport proving they're nonessntial. Their pandering to criminals is disgusting
jasongay Good job fellas Expose this racist hot mess of a country for what it is
jasongay SHAMEFUL: Instead of supporting BLM hate, violence, destruction and terror, teams should be celebrating fact that blacks can achieve in America what they can achieve nowhere else on earth. How many millionaire black athletes are there? Whites even elected a black president!
jasongay So if this is true, why are the ratings down in professional sport's?
jasongay You know very well it’s not the same thing.
jasongay Sports that is full of politics..
jasongay Sports are fading fast, at least with me anyway. The kneeling by players during our National anthem is crossing a line professional athletes should have never gone. I don’t pay too much for a ticket to contribute to their personal political demands! What’s the next demand?
jasongay No ones watching
jasongay Actually ratings are tanking for all of them because we want SPORTS, not leftist lectures from whining millionaires!
jasongay No it is not
jasongay Really fans were desperate for sports to return? Is that why Sunday night football ratings were down 28% from last year?
jasongay Sports fans wanted sports back, but not politicized sports. NFL ratings down 30%.
jasongay Athletes are genuinely talented. Thank goodness there is a concerted effort to prove well funded, scientifically focused bubble experiments are proving what stops the spread of the virus. Now let’s reimagine how the US can face up to the challenge for us all. PIP in my bubble.
jasongay Bad take.
jasongay Opium of the masses - the joke is on those who take these store bought teams serious
jasongay What else are people to do with their time right now? Many other forms of entertainment are closed or running at limited capacity.
jasongay If this ain’t first world problems...
jasongay No
jasongay It wouldn't be too much sports if it was just sports, but it's definitely too much political social justice being jammed into sports and ruining it. It's just not fun to watch anymore.
jasongay Whoever wrote this prob hates sports deep down way before this
jasongay Too much political, yes! Period! Don't care if (professional) sports ever come back on 🙄🤔😎
jasongay Nah, we tapped out. We wanted sports, not sermons.
jasongay No. Next article please
