I tried the limited-edition Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy: It’s all about the sauce

CLEVELAND, Ohio – If you’re going to order McCrispy chicken sandwich from McDonald’s, go all the way with the limited-edition Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy Deluxe.In fact, if/when McDonald’s discontinues the sandwich, they should offer sauce packets as a DIY option.

When I peeled the top layer of the toasted potato roll from the sandwich, I found a pool of creamy, light orange ranch sauce with the crisp-coated, white chicken meat. A heat wimp, I was pleased the sauce had a satisfying tang with more flavor than heat. Of course, the heat builds a bit as you take additional bites. That’s why I need the pickles; to cool the heat. To splurge, add in tomato and lettuce. And the bacon? Well, everything is better with bacon.I added a small, 12-ounce McCafé Oreo Frappé to my order. The limited-edition frappe will be available through August.

This is more like a milkshake than a coffee drink and it has calories to match -- 560 calories and 65 grams of sugar. Complete with pieces of Oreo cookie, this doesn’t quench thirst, it satisfies a sweet tooth.
