to create what it calls "ColorView," a virtual try-on experience that's powered by a form of artificial intelligence and augmented reality called YouCam technology. Now, customers will be able to test-drive an array of different hair colors from brands like Arctic Fox, Wella, Ardell, and Col-lab, among others. The technology will also suggest specific product categories and shades for users in order to make it an even more customized experience.
In a statement, perfect Corp's founder and CEO, Alice Chang, explains their vision: "This unique in-store integration is changing the way beauty lovers shop for hair color by creating a personalized tool for customers to feel confident in their purchase decision through true-to-life, try-before-you-buy beauty AI technology." AI technology works to give customers an idea of what shades suit them before they make a commitment at the salon.
To find out if it's worth the hype, I went ahead and downloaded the Sally Beauty app to give it a go for myself. Turns out, it couldn't be easier. You simply click on Sally ColorView in the menu section and your face will show up on camera. Then, you select hair color , and from there, you can choose from a selection of brands and specific products.
ColorView is available in 500 Sally Beauty store locations, as well as on the brand's mobile app for easier access. Here's to finding your new favorite hair color, folks.
