I’m Extremely Concerned by My Husband’s Reaction When Our Toddler Has a Meltdown

When our 3-year-old daughter has a meltdown, my husband gets very frustrated and often responds with sarcasm or audible “ugh.” He loudly says things like “oh no, horrible daddy said I have to brush my teeth!” And he’ll go on and on like this.

I think this is a childish reaction and not a good example for our kids, but if I ever say anything to stop or correct him he gets offended, thinking there’s nothing wrong with his behavior. In these situations, I usually choose to try to comfort her or to have no reaction and ignore the behavior . What’s your opinion on this? Meltdowns are extremely frustrating, as I’m sure you will agree.. From the limited information in your letter—i.e. your husband is griping and groaning during these scenes, but he’s still helping and not doing anything to harm your child—it sounds like he’s just coping with the melts in his own way, making light of the situation or venting a little.
