How can people afford to apply to so many schools? When m/son was applying the average application fee was $200., has that changed? The cost w/b $7800. to apply to 39 colleges. Our school counselor d/n recommend that strategy. Son graduated from Vanderbilt, no help getting in.

Wow I applied to 13 schools at the time, and that was bad enough. Though I did work with a college adviser and take all the test prep, too.
