A restaurant worker allegedly scrawled a “passive-aggressive” message on her receipt, sparking a debate among TikTok viewers.

“Wow!” the user wrote. “Their audacity. This tipping expectation is getting out of control.”

“I don’t tip for carry out,” someone else explained. “Part of the reason we get carry out is because it’s cheaper since no one is waiting on us.”“That’s like tipping the Walmart workers watching me at self checkout.. I’m not tipping for carryout,” they wrote.

Yes, & the restaurant was paid $97.00 for same. Sorry, that's part of the job of the employer/ employee to prepare the meal & establish pricing. TIPPING is separate, as a gratuity & meant to compen for the tableside & social exper. I also do not tip the grocer or shoe store emply

A tip for putting my meal in a bag with plasticware? We don't tip fast food workers... same thing.

A tip means you received good service from a waiter or waitress. The only person who may deserve a tip is the cook(at this point you dont even know if you're going to enjoy he food) All the counter person did was bring the food from the kitchen out to the front. Not tip worthy!!!

I don't tip on takeout either. The reciept generally generates that.

I tip on carry out at local mom& pop restaurants. Plus carry out chain restaurants charge a tax, which servers do not receive but it still stinks!

America has bred a generation of lazy, incompetent, entitled clowns. They want something for nothing. Meanwhile in Europe, you get professional service with no tipping expected and sincere gratitude if you throw them a few bucks anyway. Europe America.

Why are you spending 100 bucks on microwaved Mac n cheese, low quality meat that's been frozen for months?

I’ve always wondered do pple tip takeout, I usually tip a couple dollars sometimes but I feel like I’m picking up the food than why is a tip needed

Wow, people are getting more and more entitled. No way I’m tipping if I’m picking up

$95 to eat at an Outback? People wonder why they have no money.

I’m tired of subsidizing these greedy corporations that don’t want to pay their employees fair wages. Takeout orders don’t deserve a tip. Period.

Dining in ya tip the server, take out… um no.. plus restaurant prices are insane atm

The containers are poison.

Lol maybe you should quit if you think you deserve a tip for working… and I go get too

Tipping is so out of control post Covid

The same people that don’t tip and argue tipping should be eliminated are the same people that are going to be cry babies when the 2 for 1 sizzlers at Applebees are now 29.99.

Eating at Outback was the worst experience I ever had at a restaurant

I don’t tip for takeout, if you charge me a delivery fee I won’t tip but I won’t get delivery no more either. Delivery should be free after an amount. If I eat at a restaurant if it’s good service I’ll tip if it’s absolute rubbish I won’t. I do take into account how busy it is.

If that’s the worst thing that happened to you today, you had a pretty good day

She deserves 5 bucks

Outback won’t pay them decent salaries so it’s your responsibility to pay the difference. You are the bad guy for not tipping not the giant franchise corporation. You should feel ashamed! How dare you! Those corporate accounts need to stay black and the VPs need those bonuses.

During Covid many restaurants switched to pickup or delivery only..the waitresses had to switch to preparing orders for takeout instead of waiting on tables..they “took it on the chin” with their daily tip take. Manyof us who never tipped for takeout started tipping takeout.

I never tip for carry out or counter service. I only tip the bartenders and waitresses/waiters.

For all Americans whine about tipping you’d think the service would be good. Honestly it’s no better and often worse than other parts of the world. Why they do entitled?

I tip, based on what you get, Icetea $.00 Three course meal for 3 people, you have to pick up yourself, I tip 10-20% Depending on the server how's it's preparing in the bags (you look in bag!) how U tip a bartender. Beer 1.00 Taquila shot. 1.00, Five mixed drinks 20% or 1.ea

For takeout I tip about half of what I would have if I dined in or about 10%. Just depends.

Nope!

I will never tip for takeout. But I tip well when I sit down. People are insane these days 😂😂

Outback - either pay your little woke employees more, or teach them what their mommy and daddy should have which is that your salary is what you get for doing YOUR JOB! Tipping on takeout is RIDICULOUS.

Tipping should be eliminated. Show the correct price on the menu, including what you consider a fair tip, and pay your employees a wage that includes the tips you would have expected them to get.

Imagine wanting something extra for “making sure the order is correct”

It’s still the servers who check your order and package it up. Applebees used to have people dedicated to it. Not saying you have to do 20% but I always tip on carry out

10% tip on carry out. Waitstaff have to spend a lot of time getting your carry out together. Don’t be cheap.

Tips and spit are anagrams of each other. You think if there's no tips, there's no spit in the food?

The only Tip I give for takeout is, 'speed it up next time'.

Pay with cash and make them ask for a tip if they really want it.

No ur not wrong

I never tip for carry out. Delivery, yes. But if I have to leave my house, get into my car, go into an establishment and get my food in a takeout container to bring it home and *hope* it’s all done correctly because at this point there’s no correcting it, no. No tip.

“A server has to make sure the order is correct, packed and ready for you. it should be tipped,” a viewer touted. - And even then half the time shit's wrong.

We tip for service. If I do 'take out', I wasn't 'Served' dinner. They never asked me how my meal was, or is everything alright when my mouth is full, or refilled my drinks while I ate. Now, if the tip went to the cook instead of the phone jockey...

Tipping is fine. Putting that fkn “add tip” on every transaction is going to be the downfall of the West.

you spent $100 you should tip..someone cooked it FOR YOU

I woud not tip that too!

Everyone should stop tipping, put the cost on the food and pay your staff better, the tipping culture is getting out of hand

I never tip in takeout or counter service. Never will!!!!

10% is appropriate for take out. GBA

I don’t tip at fast food windows or any other “takeout”. Lol. Cope.

Tipping for every interaction is ridiculous

picture definition of entitlement.

If you want to support your community, give your ‘donations’ to the ppl providing service in your neighborhood instead of some national org or charity. Not equating it the same, but you don’t need a charity to help your neighbors.
