Elsa is a hurricane once again with winds of 75 mph. It will move up Florida's West Coast tonight. For the latest, tune into The Weather Channel and click here:

Wind shear and dry air will slow Elsa's intensification, however, Elsa is forecast to remain at Category 1 hurricane status at as it scrapes northward near Florida's west coast before making landfall near Florida's Nature Coast early Wednesday. The Tampa - St. Petersburg area will see its worst impacts from the storm Tuesday night into early Wednesday. This could be the first hurricane to track near the metro area since Irma made a Category 1 pass east of Tampa in September 2017.

The National Hurricane Center says storm surge could reach the following levels if peak surge arrives at the time of high tide: -A storm surge of 2 to 4 feet above ground level is possible along Florida's western coast from Bonita Beach to Englewood, including Charlotte Harbor.-A storm surge of 2 to 4 feet above ground level is possible along Florida's Big Bend coast from west of the mouth of the Aucilla River to the mouth of the Ochlockonee River.

Oy....that's going to come right across where I live in SC.

How sad you all have to wish for a hurricane so it covers all the mistakes you all have made today. JenCarfagno had it right this morning and you all should have listen to her forecast you wouldn't be wishing for a hurricane.

So in my opinion, they should have saved the name Elsa for a winter storm. I’ll chalk this up to global warming.

Thankfully, everything should be ok. They’ve dealt with stronger storms before.

Going to be a long night here!

On your app how about actually showing what is happening instead of making us watch ads before any info is reported? Horrible app.

Yes,seeing Elsa could make landfall as a hurricane in FL as Spirit showed me on 7/2/21 it was being underestimated.Seeing this season being MORE DESTRUCTIVE/COSTLIER than 2020 & seeing tropical cyclones/hurricanes hitting FL,TX,Carlionas & around NY/NE states.🙏it isnt too bad.

'Let it go! let it gooooo'

But, it might nip the corner of Alabama.

Prayers are out to those Floridians that are embracing Tropical Storm Elsa. If you must live in Florida... you will encounter such weather. Think twice before moving to Florida. Florida has hot weather, high humidity. Everything is not rosy in Florida. Prayers!
