Some of the 241 people on the flight from Denver International Airport to Honolulu opened their windows to see an exposed engine spewing flames and pieces of the plane falling away. Others closed their windows, grabbed their loved ones and prayed. Thousands of feet below in a Denver suburb, people on the ground ran to shelter to dodge debris suddenly plummeting to the earth.The pilots issued a mayday call and, after turning back to the airport, landed the Boeing 777-200 plane safely.

Problem was the engine’s blades which probably made by GE! That should not effect all other 777s with Rolls-Royce engines! Boeing is not the one to blame and should be GE too or the engine manufacturers!

PamelaBrownCNN and others keep citing engine trouble on Boeing aircraft. Boeing has little to do with installation, inspection and servicing of the engines. For the Denver flight, the engines were Pratt & Whitney. cnn coverage is misleading.

The engine is windmilling out of balance with a cyclic colour change at the intake. I'd bet on a broken fan blade some of which went through.

i´ve worked for UNITED AIRLINES years ago for 2 months and even THAN i saw i which TERRIBLE CONDITION the UNITED PLANES really are and i´m an aviation engineer. I was even flying with AirVIA bulgaria MOST DANGEROUS airline in Europe with Tu154 in 2004 and their planes were better

This type engine was released by PW in 1993, production’s obsolete and still keep a reliable usage and respect to flight crew who did they job great. The most important thing is that more than 200 people on board were safe and alive.

Consider this. The design was perfect. The engine did not fall off and the pieces and parts fell down and not scatter. That is a good design. And get this the plane ✈️ made a turn, lost no altitude and landed. ALL Souls Saved.
