As President Trump's impeachment trial gets underway, both sides look to how the Senate handled the proceeding during President Clinton's trial.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he modeled the GOP rules for Trump on the ones used for Clinton.— abruptly backed down from some controversial proposals and agreed to adopt a timetable closer to the one used for Clinton.Senate staffers carry boxes to the Capitol.

That’s basically what happened in the Clinton trial, when senators voted in favor of hearing from witnesses, but only via videotaped depositions, not in-person testimony before the Senate. This was another last-minute change. McConnell on Monday released proposed rules that would not automatically include the House record. They would be included only after a motion and vote at the end of the trial.

After some Republicans balked, he agreed to accept the evidence at the start, as occurred with Clinton.

How to Watch the Senate Impeachment Trial of President TrumpDemocrats rejected McConnell's timeline for the trial as an effort to “conceal the President’s misconduct in the dark of night,” a literal description if the first week of the trial goes until one in the morning media: 'Oh that bad man!! What bad thing did he do now!! Oh dear oh me oh my!!' JuddApatow This will backfire. People will stay up. There are some typos in the article. It’s “Pam Bondi.” Also, Schumer is the Minority leader, not Majority leader, unfortunately.
