Sweden, the world No. 5, thrashed the Americans 3-0 in its opening game, before defeating Australia and New Zealand to top Group G and then breezed past host Japan 3-1 in the quarterfinals. The gold medal match was scheduled to start at 11 a.m. local time on Friday , but the two teams asked for the game to be postponed.
