California Gov. Gavin Newsom gave the green light for film and television shoots to resume in June, here's how to restart production in Hollywood:

“Safely getting back to our work of storytelling and reuniting with our creative community is at the top of all our minds. But in these fast-changing times amid such a complicated virus, figuring out how to get that done right was no easy task,” said Thomas Schlamme, president of the Directors Guild of America. “We knew the only way forward was to consult with leading medical experts and let science guide us to the right approach for our unique work environments.

Minimize close contact when safe distancing isn’t possible—such as between performers and makeup artists and hairstylists . Emmy Award-winning executive producer Bradley Bell spent hours on Zoom calls planning how to resume production of the long-running CBS soap operaOne problem? How to preserve the on-screen passion in an era of social distancing. The solution? Creative lighting, artful camera angles, spouses serving as romantic stand-ins—and sex dolls.

When shooting on location, look for a spot where access can be secured and members of the production can be kept away from the general public. As the rest of the entertainment industry ground to a stop, animation barely skipped a beat, with actors conducting virtual table reads, animators using technology that allowed them to work together on storyboards and composers assembling scores by having musicians play from home.
