80% of women in jail are mothers and primary caregivers for their children, but the prison system frequently forces women to choose between serving their sentences and being active participants in their children’s lives. WPA_NYC is helping to change that

Elaine is a forensic social worker and graduate of the WPA's Women’s Leadership and Media Project and advocates for systems-involved women through events and media outreach.Elaine and Elaine, Jr. Elaine was 6-months pregnant when her husband was arrested in 2016, and she was wrongfully charged as a co-defendant. She spent three years on restrictive probation while fighting to prove her innocence in court, but eventually chose to take an Alford plea to ensure that Elaine, Jr.

Tamanika is a community leader, WPA graduate and advocates for women and families impacted by incarceration through storytelling and direct support.

WPA_NYC I don't think men should B allowed 2 work at women's prisons considering all the sexual misconduct & the abuse of power. I also think since prisoners don't have rights there should be a live feed channel in there so society can make sure u punks running the show aren't corrupting
