Pandemic migration hot spots see the worst inflation — here's why.

Americans moved around a lot over the past two years, and those destinations also now happen to have the highest inflation rates in the U.S.

The relationship between migration and inflation has strengthened significantly as more people relocate from expensive coastal cities to more affordable metro areas, according to an analysis released byPhoenix is one of the inflation hot spots that has seen an influx of new residents. Atlanta and Tampa are also among the metro regions seeing both hot inflation and the pandemic-related surge in homebuying.

Prices are up across the country. The consumer price index rose by 8.3% in April 2022 from a year ago.
