The least expensive parking rates in the city will go to $1 per hour from 5 cents. Changes in Deep Ellum will be delayed two yearsThe price hikes will impact areas such as the central business district, Uptown, the Baylor hospital area and the Jefferson Boulevard area in Oak Cliff, where meters are prominent. Meter rates now can range from 5 cents to $1.50 an hour.
Half of the meters haven’t had their rates updated in at least 10 years and another 11% haven’t had rate changes in more than 20 years, according to the city.
