A resurgent demand for travel after the COVID-19 pandemic has led to"unprecedented" demand, the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs said in an advisory last week,"As of March 24, we are processing routine applications in 10-13 weeks, and expedited applications in 7-9 weeks," the State Department said.
Also allow a few days to gather the necessary documents and passport photos, and keep in mind that there are fees involved. An adult U.S. citizen applying for a passport for the first time pays $130 to apply for a passport book, $35 acceptance fee. Expedited service costs an additional $60. Depending on how long you say the “pandemic” lasted, one of my favorite parts of it was trying to go to Mexico on the cheap and having the place practically to ourselves. Pandemic was a great time to travel and get out the house.
