The rise and fall of the WikiLeaks founder, who was arrested Thursday on hacking charges.

Julian Assange holds up a copy of the Guardian newspaper as he speaks to reporters in London in 2010. By Avi Selk Avi Selk Reporter Email Bio Follow April 12 at 2:13 PM In April 2010, a little-known group called WikiLeaks released footage taken by a U.S. Army helicopter as it overflew a Baghdad suburb three years earlier, near the height of the Iraq War.

WikiLeaks “tries to make the world more civil and act against abusive organizations that are pushing it in the opposite direction,” Assange told Time in a Skype call from a secret location for a December 2010 cover story. The magazine illustrated it with a picture of the silver-haired, not-quite-40-year-old Australian gagged with an American flag.

“A courageous Latin America nation took a stand for justice,” Assange told a crowd of supporters from the embassy balcony that August. “And to the people of the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia who have supported me in strength, even when their governments have not, and to those wiser heads in government who are still fighting for justice, your day will come.”

In the summer of 2016, as Assange managed WikiLeaks from his small bedroom in the Ecuadoran embassy, the group published tens of thousands of emails recently stolen from the Democratic National Committee — dramatically disrupting the party’s national convention. Assange remained the subject of media fascination, but now the profiles were tempered with doubts about his motivations and questions about his alleged links to the Russian government. “WikiLeaks, an organization purportedly devoted to transparency, is at a minimum okay with helping out the world’s most aggressively authoritarian leader,” Vox wrote in 2017.

When was he ever a First Amendment Hero in the eyes of the public?

Which partisan? Dems don’t claim him.

No comment on Assange.

He is my hero. Power to the people.

He is criminal Coz he exposed politicians corruptions and war crimes !!

He was always a criminal.

You mean in the eyes of the left. When people thought he had dirt to sink Trump, the media and the Dem’s loved him. When it became apparent that his info was going to harm Hilary, he became ‘partisan’.

That never happened.

I've heard that a career in computer science and engineering is a rewarding and profitable career change. Maybe you should check this out to see if you have the aptitude.

OperationMockingbird

From Ellsberg

He’s full of information.

Who would've guessed a rapist would find a female president problematic

He's a Whistle blower and a hero, until he blows the whistle on democrats.

Gen X is about as good at politics as they are at parenting

The only reason Assange 'went from First Amendment hero to partisan figure in the eyes of the public' is b/c the MSM corporate estab entertainment networks drove that narrative over & over in ad naseum. Sound familiar? Russiagate WMDs DNCLeaks

There is your political campaign spy Mr. Trump, and he is a foreign criminal you embraced during your campaign.

He showed Hillary’s receipts 😂

This is not true.

Easy Russian $$$

Bigger question: How did he come to look like Fidel Castro?

but he shot those truth arrows though 😂😂😂

Something to do with aiding Russians stolen materials to help Trump attack Clinton?

Here you go again- manufacturing a narrative rather than reporting the news.

Maybe like my twelve year old granddaughter figured out while watching Goosebumps, he picked a side? Journalism still implies intelligence, or not.

He is my brother

The Washington D.C. deep state establishment is not 'the public.'

You’re saying that like a majority of us think differently of him now. He’s still a hero

Mossad agent and working for Israel.

What if he has damning evidence that the elite Dems engaged in some very bad things that will shock our nation? Look how Collusion Delusion turned out! Panic

In the eyes of the public? Give me a break. Julian Assange is no 'journalist' let alone an advocate of free speech but rather a RussianAsset who has 'enabled' Putin's disinformation campaign in the West and doesn't utter a word when the 'Tsar' murders journalists in cold blood.

Yeah it has to do with his actions

He smeared crap on the walls

He became a spy.

Let’s pretend the fake news media had nothing to do with that

RT : How JulianAssange went from First Amendment hero to partisan figure in the eyes of the public

You misspelled “CRIMINAL”

Whereby conservatives, not liberals, are siding with him, even though his distribution of cabals led to a breach in opsec in two wars the GOP unabashedly supported.

UK pledges it won't send Assange to country with death penalty: EcuadorBritain has guaranteed to Ecuador that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will not... Usually, I do not agree with my country extraditing anyone to the US. American justice is off the rails. However, Assange should be executed for treason, he’s an information terrorist, and we outlawed that, so he absolutely should be sent back to the USA. Wait a cotton-pickin' minute. We have the death penalty. 😖 This is incorrect. As long as the country he is sent to agrees not to use the death penalty, they will send him there. The US had to agree to this to get El Chapo. They have never reneged on that promise.
