SEROIUSLY 1000 mcg !!! this dose is an insane amount of Fent to adm to anyone in that little amount of time ! the doc really cant explain this order I would think
That dose of fentanyl is 10 times the therelutic dose for pain.
I give Fentanyl/versed on a daily basis. If an MD ordered a dose like this, I'd refuse the order. If they insisted, I'd file assault charges against them. And if the MD ordered somebody else to do it, I'd file charges against them too.

Hospice workers do this all the time. Inappropriate morphine (e.g. for bladder infections or fever) for persons with declining health is much more common than this. A bigger problem that should be investigated.
