You may have heard that blood type may play a role in people’s susceptibility to COVID-19 and the severity of symptoms it may produce. But what if you don’t know your blood type? What a registered nurse wants you to know:

Except, what if you don’tIf you don’t already know your blood type, finding record of it can be difficult – blood type isn’t on your birth certificate and is not typically listed in records from routine lab work. So, you may need to do a blood type test – and that’s actually quite simple.

You also can find out your type by donating blood – which is in short supply right now. Or, if you’re scheduled for routine lab work, you can ask your doctor to include blood typing in the orders so you can find out if you’re A, B, AB or O.

It's almost always 'short supply' though. That doesn't do it justice. I do blood bank in our hospital and I've never seen it like this before. It's pretty dire. Arguing with doctors whether we should give blood to certain patients or not

It’s in short supply because they’ve been discriminating the LGBT community.

What is the point? You will never receive blood without being tested for group, type and antibodies. No card or records will be sufficient.

Why isn’t your blood type on your drivers license? Isn’t that as important if you’re in an accident as whether or not you’re willing to donate organs?
