How artist Laurie Kang 'misuses' material to create tactile, carnal installations

Toronto artist Laurie Kang has been making ambitious installations since starting her residency with the L.A. nonprofit Horizon Art Foundation, an initiative that aims to nurture emerging and midcareer artists around the world.

Instead, Kang explains that she is “misusing” the material, exposing it to sunlight and letting the colors emerge organically.
