James Q. Whitman’s book methodically explores how the Nazis took inspiration from American racism.

” , a study of the postwar metamorphosis. Significantly, Hitler remained in the Army after the Armistice; disgruntled nationalist soldiers tended to join paramilitary groups. Because the Social Democratic parties were dominant at the founding of the Weimar Republic, Hitler was representing a leftist government. He even served the short-lived Bavarian Soviet Republic.

If Hitler’s radicalization occurred as rapidly as this—and not all historians agree that it did—the progression bears an unsettling resemblance to stories that we now read routinely in the news, of harmless-seeming, cat-loving suburbanites who watch white-nationalist videos on YouTube and then join a neo-Nazi group on Facebook.

Hett refrains from poking the reader with too many obvious contemporary parallels, but he knew what he was doing when he left the word “German” out of his title.

Perfect somehow

Hitler was especially impressed with U.S. eugenics and its negative treatment toward mentally and physically handicapped. Old news.

America lost almost 500K of its young men saving Europe from the Nazis.

Lol there are American racists commenting on here trying to blame Democratic Party for Hitler when the democrats and Allie’s are the ones that destroyed, while Charles Limburg of America first wanted to let him take the world an burned factories in Texas

I first learned about this from Caste by Isabelwilkerson 📖

Just saying I don't think this is as progressive as your AI social media manager thinks it is.

Eugenetics and euthanasia are still very important flags of the LibDem ... but nowaday they call them 'civil rights'

Who is tweeting this book review from 5 years ago at 11:47pm on a Friday?

'how the Nazis took inspiration' is Mel Brooks level. Are y'all fucking serious with this shit?

fuckin PHD over here

This article was written 5 years ago!!! Wtf are y'all trying to capitalize on here? Pseudo-intellectualizing and glorifying the spectacle of slavery, are we CondeNast cancel my non existent subscription w/ immediate effect, plz, thank you, goodnight

He was a fan of Margaret Sanger and American eugenics programs. U know, the planned parenthood crowd, that was his jam.

Isabell Wilkerson also gets into this in her book “Caste”. I minored in history and had no idea.

A long time ago in a country well known and striving for its own defense today-White Russian emigre Max Erwin von Scheubner-Richter got to Hitler before the bullet for Hitler found him instead at the Munich Beer Hall Putsch-& 15 years later: Kristallnacht.

RiverdivaNM Yes the southern Democrat plantation slave owners playbook copied to the letter by the Nazi's !!

Wilkerson’s Caste devoted a lot of space to this theory.

The horror inspiring madness

Leveraging mans survival is the back door to controlling all men.

Oh lord…

Definitely Stephen Miller’s best headshot.

Hitler's chief master was Atatürk.

This topic is also covered in the book, “Caste, The Origins of Our Discontent” by Isabella Wilkerson.

Pity the susceptible Germans, Jew hatred was embedded in Europe for centuries and to this day.

The only people who don't kmow this are the American people!

the title is impressive, how will the content be

Oh ffs. You people gotta stop. Just stop.

Yikes!

America is now responsible for Hitler.

oh brother. lame lame lame

carly4330 Hitler used the KKK playbook to go after the Jewish people in WW2. NeverForget

Eugenics big in America at the time and Nazi's took it to an inevitable conclusion to build a Germanic super race by eliminating societal inferiors. As a democracy it didn't get that far, but in a totalitarian regime it did. A lesson for America today with Trump and the GOP.

Maybe the Nazis, but not *necessarily* Hitler. In 1968, I went to a talk Jesse Owens gave in Boston. Owens remarked that he was better treated in Germany than the US and that though Hitler never spoke to him but he did look him in the eyes, nodded and smiled. Not so racist.

Another good reference well researched on this topic: Wilkerson’s book Caste

WRONG, Nazism arose from WWl, harsh sanctions imposed on the Germans.

Still inspire most of the racists all over the world. That’s your specialty, murica.

Hitler was most influenced by Progressive's eugenics project called Planned Parenthood - a cover to eliminate society's 'undesirables.'

Nonsense, 17-1800’s most immigrants to US were German and Slavic peoples that brought their ways here and applied them to existing slave trade, than the Nazis used the gathered info to finally tune their own ideas.
