What began as a tweet by a popular British soccer commentator comparing the language of the government’s new immigration plan to that of 1930s Germany has upended a leading sports program and erupted into a national argument over free speech.

. But his latest intervention hit a nerve with the government. According to a recent poll by British pollster YouGov, 73% of participants thought it was handling immigration issues badly.Even Prime Ministerhas commented on Lineker’s response on Twitter to the video announcement from Braverman, who said the new bill would “mean that if you come here illegally you will not be able to stay. You will be detained and removed to your country, if safe, or a safe third country, like Rwanda.

Migrants picked up at sea are helped ashore by a Royal National Lifeboat Institution vessel on the southeast coast of England in December. And after Lineker’s sideline, commentators on “Match of the Day” — which holds the world record for the longest runningshow — announced they were withdrawing from the program, which aired on Saturday night with no studio presenters or punditry.

Go ahead NBC interfere with another's countries speech since you ruined your ability to post unbiased views in the US I feel sorry for any country NBC tries to influence...

Football pundit. It isn't Soccer & he's not a commentator.

Liberals are very similar to Nazis. They're a hate cult overly concerned with identity politics.

There's been little argument, just the noise of a massive consensus...which is different. One is divisive, the other is the opposite of that.

You can’t make new rules around free speech then get upset when one of your own is suppressed by the very rules you invented and cheered on when they were used against people who you disagree with. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

Not really, BBC is meant to be impartial.
