A Houston police officer has been placed on leave and is expected to resign after he stormed inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Wednesday, adding the officer will likely face federal charges as law enforcement agencies across the country continue to look into whether their officers took part in the riots.... The officer, who was not identified, is an 18-year veteran of Houston police who was photographed holding a Trump flag at the Capitol, Acevedo said. A similar investigation is underway in Seattle, where at least two police officers are on administrative leave for alleged involvement in the riots, while the New York Police Department is also, a police detective has reportedly been reassigned after traveling to Washington in support of President Donald Trump on Jan.

Several other investigations are taking place in regard to law enforcement’s involvement in the riots, including by the Capitol Police themselves. On Monday, Capitol Policethe suspensions of “several” officers and the opening of an investigation into at least 10 of its members.
