A former housekeeper accused of raping an 81-year-old woman with dementia in a Rochester, New York, nursing home was indicted on five charges that include rape and criminal sexual act, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Thursday. Khadka Pradhan, 51, was arrested in September on the same day the alleged rape took place.
After his arrest that day, he pleaded not guilty to charges in a felony criminal complaint filed by the RochesterDepartment. He was arraigned on the felony complaint on September 30, and his bail was set at $10,000 cash, $50,000 secured bond and $100,000 unsecured bond, which he paid the same day. "The charges outlined in this case are as heinous and disturbing as they come," James said in the release."Mr. Pradhan allegedly raped an elderly woman with dementia at the nursing home where she lived—grossly violating her, other residents and her family, who trusted that she would be safe and cared for."
