Fears over the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic are pushing people to rethink their monthly budgets

The coronavirus pandemic is forcing many people to rethink their monthly budget.

“Some people do—but a lot of us don’t—scrutinize our purchases on a daily basis and make sure we’re sticking to budgets” in normal times, says Katherine Milkman, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. “This is going to lead people to pay more attention than they were paying before.”
