The House aims to pass its police reform legislation a day after Democrats blocked a Senate Republican bill they called inadequate.

House Democrats aim to pass a police reform bill Thursday that has little chance of getting through the Senate.If the impasse continues, Congress risks failing to respond to the largest public call for police reform in decades.

Democrats in the chamber expect to approve the legislation with little Republican support. On Wednesday, Senate Democratsthat they said did not go nearly far enough to root out systemic racism and violence in policing.

We really need to get this right as black people in this country have been getting screwed since day one. The Homestead Act and GI Bill to name a few, managed to exclude black people while allowing white people to prosper. Why wasn't I taught this in my private elementary school?
