The vote comes in the wake of a horrific mass shooting over the weekend at a supermarket in a predominately Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, that killed 10 people and wounded three others. The Justice Department is investigating the shooting as a hate crime and"an act of racially-motivated violent extremism."The bill passed -- the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022 -- will next go to the Senate for consideration, where its fate is uncertain.
House Democratic leaders had planned to bring an earlier version of the bill to the floor in April, but the effort was derailed after progressive members objected to the measure, which they said could be used to target civil rights activists or left-leaning groups. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said he believes those issues have been resolved.

This isn't going anywhere because it will primarily help POC. Last summer when Asian-American were being attacked. In the blink of an eye, a bill got through the Congress, the Senate and onto the President's desk to be signed in law. We're still waiting on the Voting Rights Bill.

A similar measure in 2020 failed to make it through the Senate. Shouldn’t all domestic violence and terrorism already be highly resourced?
