09/01/2021 10:47 PM EDTThe House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday voted to require women to register for the military draft, making the change one step closer to becoming law after senators endorsed the move this summer.
"It's past time," said Houlahan, an Air Force veteran. "Women make up over 50 percent of our population, and not including them in the Selective Service is not only a disservice to these women, but also to our nation as a whole." One Republican supporter, Rep. Michael Waltz of Florida, a former Army Green Beret, warned that the military would need a much broader pool of recruits in the event of "a national emergency so grave" that it requires a draft.
I like this idea. Probably wouldn’t have invaded Iraq if women could have been drafted.
Just women! I would say you need to truly make women in this country equal first. Start by making Roe v Wade law, then pass Equal Pay for Women, and finally pass the Violence against Women Act. Otherwise, drop dead!!!

Of course they should have to. If they are eligible to serve, they should be eligible for the draft.

Now all of a sudden, there is differences between men and women
You don't draft women even though we're very strong, capable of fighting and holding high rank, it's wrong. And not all women are this way though and we also have and raise the children and keep the family going and together. Children can't do without their mother.
You will see a revolt in the USA if it becomes a law. We are NOT owned by a bunch of dysfunctional Congress people.

Hardly the 'Land of the Free' when a handful of rich men get to throw you in prison if you refuse to fight in the wars they start. Drafts are draconian leftovers from when we we're all indentured servants. Its high time we all let these bastards know we aren't their chattel.

I'm torn- Equality is good overall, but even considering a draft at all nowadays still seems dumb and outdated.
Surely a women who serve deserve rights with her wombs?
How about the ERA and equal pay?
