The House approved a $1.37-trillion spending package that includes a raise for federal employees and funding for gun violence research.

WASHINGTON – The House passed a $1.37 trillion spending package that includes money for President Donald Trump's border wall, funding for gun violence research and increasing the age for purchasing tobacco products from 18 to 21.

The votes on the spending package, which was broken up into two bills, marked the first of three monumental votes scheduled in the House this week. The others include a historic vote on two articles of impeachment against Trump and a new North American trade deal. The caucus, which includes about 40 lawmakers, said the pros of the bill did not"outweigh the serious issues that remain."

"I’m pleased that we have reached a bipartisan agreement that will keep government open, provide the certainty of full-year funding, and make strong investments in key priorities for American communities," said House Appropriations Chairwoman Nita Lowey, D-N.Y."With higher spending levels in line with the bipartisan budget agreement, we are scaling up funding for priorities that will make our country safer and stronger and help hardworking families get ahead.

House committee takes up articles of impeachment for first timeTuesday morning, the House Rules Committee will take up articles of impeachment for the first time to consider the procedures that will govern tomorrow's full House vote. So they decided to gather to make more stuff up - add some heavy legal lingo and wrap it in a redacted Constitution. As a Democrat I am appalled by this blatant partisanship. Bipartisan support is for realDonaldTrump and against impeachment. If there were justice... Trump would see the inside of a prison cell. Rules do not apply to the wealthy elite. Congress needs to change the rules. PeteButtigieg 🇺🇸 2020 The right choice. 'President Trump deserves to be impeached.' April 19th 2019 ~ Pete Buttigieg Still no crime. Trump a 'threat' to national security, House Judiciary Committee chairman says.GStephanopoulos 'Republican voters overwhelmingly oppose impeachment...Haven't you failed your own test?' 'I don't think so,' Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry Nadler says, adding that Pres. Trump 'poses a continuing threat to our national security.' GStephanopoulos The Steele dossier was fake. Evidence was literally altered to get FISA warrants to spy on Trump. Trump is not the one i'm worried about. GStephanopoulos Democrats are fleeing the house to join the Republican party because of these twos congressman running a sham impeachment GStephanopoulos The ridiculous 'test' Nadler invented to protect Bill Clinton shouldn't have any effect on impeaching a highly corrupt president like Donald Trump.
