HONG KONG - Hong Kong’s airport halted flights on Monday, blaming demonstrators for the disruption, while China said the anti-government protests that have swept the city over the past two months had begun to show “sprouts of terrorism”.
The increasingly violent demonstrations have plunged the Chinese-ruled territory into its most serious crisis in decades, presenting Chinese leader Xi Jinping with one of his biggest challenges since he came to power in 2012. “This is about our freedom,” said one of the thousands of protesters who stayed, a 24-year-old wearing a mask, who gave his name only as Yu. “Why should we leave?”Hong Kong is the world’s busiest air cargo port and the 8th busiest by passenger traffic, handling 73 million passengers a year. It has been filled with anti-government protesters for four days.
The activists at the airport have been polite and passengers mostly unperturbed. “I was expecting something, given all the news,” one arrival, Gurinda Singh, told Reuters. Some activists moved to the departure area and caused disruptions, police told a news conference as the cancellations were announced.
About 190 flights were affected, Chinese aviation data firm VariFlight said, though planes already en route to Hong Kong were allowed to land.

Why don't you put the video of so-called peaceful protesters hitting police with long sticks and umbrellas, and using laser pen to hurt the police? All violence should be condemned.

This is exactly why the world does not need China in charge of the world economy. Can the world be free under the RMB ? Look what is going on in Venezuela. Look what is going on in the South China Sea. Look what is going on in other countries that China is involved in.
It is a shame that the communist China continues to exert pressure on Hong Kong despite having signed a treaty with the British to give it special privileges and to not interfere with the values that people in HK have. Sad day for democracy. realDonaldTrump

It's time for Lam to leave.
No countries would tolerate such lawlessness. China must protect public safety, call up national guards, send in SWAT teams. The days that mobs ad thugs rule the streets of Hong Kong must end. Rule of law must be restored.
