After a number of pandemic-induced delays, the latest movie adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1965 sci-fi classic novel"Dune" is landing in theaters and on HBO Max this weekend. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, with its stars including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya and Oscar Isaac, the film is among this year's most highly anticipated releases.
"Though the miniseries had its detractors, it won two Emmy awards for cinematography and special visual effects. This led the channel to release a sequel miniseries,"Frank Herbert's Children of Dune," starring a then relatively unknown James McAvoy, which combined events from the author's follow-up books"Dune Messiah" and"Children of Dune.
Slow and boring. Only told half the story which is strange considering there’s no part 2 currently scheduled.
I really liked it! Started watching at 10:30pm and was engaged the whole way through. I loved the optimistic ending and how it naturally flows into what will hopefully be a sequel or more… honestly I feel like it could be as big as the LOTR trilogy!
Except it's half the story. Reminds me of the Fellowship of the Ring when Sam and Frodo stand and look out across the empty land at the end.
I watched the first 1/2 on tv; paused and went to the cinema. No comparison in experience; go to the cinema and you'll be bowled over by the artistry of Denis Villeneuve.
Bc it’s amazing

Idk while it was good, it definitely dragged ass for quite a bit of the movie. That’s not usually a successful movie act. I’m not sure I’m gonna put myself through it again. I’ll see the sequel when it comes out but if it doesn’t I’ll be ok.
Dune 2021 is good. Part 2 is gonna be great.
Not looking forward to any sequel, it was pretty boring. The only really cool thing that I liked about this movie were the dragonfly helicopters, I thought those were cool.
Given the multiple ways of narrating Dune (as ecology, religious or political) it’s quite good. And in visual terms it’s mind blowing.
Unlike 'Star Wars,' which used its opening crawl to catch the audience up on the story and provided reasons to be invested in the characters' journeys, Lynch's adaptation of 'Dune' immediately 'dumps all… first 5 minutes of 84
