International Hotels Group to ditch mini shampoos in its nearly 843,000 hotel rooms as part of effort to 'reduce our waste footprint and environmental impact.'

LONDON — The fight to save the seas from plastic waste may mean the end for mini bottles of shampoo and other toiletries that hotel guests love to stuff into their luggage.

The owner of Holiday Inn and InterContinental Hotels says Tuesday that its nearly 843,000 guest rooms are switching to bulk-size bathroom amenities as part of an effort to cut waste. The transition is due to be completed in 2021. InterContinental Hotels Group CEO Keith Barr says"switching to larger-size amenities across more than 5,600 hotels around the world is a big step in the right direction and will allow us to significantly reduce our waste footprint and environmental impact as we make the change."

Why not place those 'stick em tube can be filled with shampoo n conditioner-----like the cruise ships-Carnaval n all. Makes it very nice n convenient.

I was in Europe this summer- UK, Switzerland, France and Italy. All the hotels we stayed at had full size bottles attached in the shower and some had hand soap containers instead of a bar.

Ok I like the mini

I think that's good. RT : The owner of Holiday Inn and InterContinental Hotels says its rooms are switching to bulk-size bathroom amenities as part of an effort to cut waste.

I'll have to buy bigger luggage.

Makes sense

Good. Like they do in gyms. Put a big shampoo and conditioner container on the wall of the shower

I take all my own products. If it would keep hotel room costs down, I think all they should provide is soap and toilet paper.

In order to cut back on plastics.

Less cost to the Corp and less chance of running low for the customer. Good win/win. But I’d want assurances that the dispensers are tamper-proof. We have them at my golf club. They work great, but of course I know and trust the other users. I wouldn’t have that in a hotel.

Why not solid shampoo? No waste to worry about and still mini sized

Epic Fail and frankly those bulk dispensers are gross and impossible to keep clean.

So will men put their semen in the dispensers?

Excellent!! No need for those little sizes! People are so weird about “free” things. Free things they’ll take home and throw out!

After getting chemical burns from soap they had at the gym and at one hotel where I stayed, they can KEEP their 'amenities.' I always bring my own when I travel.

No! I want a sealed bottle. Too many crazies that might want to put something in there thinking it funny.

Hard pass

don't believe a word of it...it has nothing to do with environmental impact unless of course it is run by democrats

Well really , that is a lot of waste . I’m sure you could get that stuff from the front desk if you need it .

Bull poop, cutting out mini shampoos will save them millions of dollars and they can give their Board huge bonuses as a result.

that's a funny way of saying 'reduce costs'
