This week, she’ll be returning to Houston, right when the museum reopens on Friday night for its latest exhibit, “African Cosmologies: Redux.” The night before that happens, Jones and the museum will hold an outdoor screening of the 2019 documentary “United Skates,” at Emancipation Park. The John Legend-produced film focuses on fledgling roller rinks throughout the country – and the skaters of color who try to keep them in business.
Jones already has screenings lined up for next month. On Oct. 11, HMAAC will hold a virtual screening of “A Woman on the Outside,” a 2022 documentary about Kristal Bush, a young Philadelphia woman who works to keep families connected to their incarcerated loved ones.
