HIGHLIGHTS: China imposes controversial national security laws for Hong Kong. Here are some details about the laws, which came into effect at 1500 GMT

HONG KONG - New Hong Kong security laws came into effect on Wednesday that will punish crimes of secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign forces with up to life in prison, heralding a more authoritarian era for China’s freest city.

Some two dozen Western countries, including Britain and the United States, have urged China to reconsider the security laws, saying Beijing must preserve the right to assembly and free speech in the Asian financial hub. * The central government in Beijing has an overarching responsibility for national security affairs in Hong Kong.

Controversy in America?

GirluniqueXOXOX caitoz is laughing her arse off in joy.

With thousands of journalists shamelessly lying and millions of US money spent and gangs of CIA agents endeavoring, their attempts still failed. Now you could see how incompetent and weak these Anglo-Saxon nations are

Summary of HK's NationalSecueityLaw Pay attention to A38, this stick means the Chinese authority can arrest anyone, neither HK or Chinese citizen, all over the world, when they think you violate the security law. HKSOS StandWithHongKong

Welcome the enhanced security law

Its not controversial. Its disgusting

China is asshoe

Fake news

China under Xi is a big bully. It cares two hoots for US/ UK requests to reconsider the new security law imposed on HK. It is for the civilised world to unite against this big bully and bring it to its knees

That is the law can arrest any one if you are in Hong Kong.

No surprise, communist can have many laws to go only one way and my way

soshk_hker The police have shown their lack of respect for human life. Police shot the reporter.

🇨🇳 Is the most dangerous threat to the free 🌎

Serves an an excellent warning to countries drifting closer to China economically and/or politically.

'I think China is very professionally run in the sense that they have everything under control.' ----US president Donald Trump

And China will call just say you did all of those things if you even think about any kind of peaceful protest. 'succession' Hong Kongers don't want to be part of the mainland. That's over now. Xi is an awful man who is himself breaking the law.

It's a slightly harsher version of what jkenney is doing with Bill 1.

Anddddddd...they already arrested someone.

Wow. I wouldn't start an autonomous zone there.

FK CHINA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HK people urgently needed this law. Good job

Soon we shall all be in gaol; either by breaking the law, or by not breaking the law. ccp PRC hkg

They will probably take as many under 21’s as possible and put them in internment camps, possibly killing-off as many as they can - just like the Uyghurs that the world does not care about. Will somebody please kiss Xi’s ass for me?

But they’re not Communist 😂

法不責眾

Well, removal of freedom of expression.

soshk_hker

In short, it is up to CCP preference and the so-called law is not law but shit

BLM!

AMERICAN CIA,VIA THE NED,PLAYS THE BRITISH CARDE !IN ALL 5 CONTINENTES ,THE BRITISH EMPIRE ,LOST SOME OF ITS FEATHERS,ALL 5 -EYE NATIONS,ARE THE QUEENS ,PUPPETES !

This fully shows how exactly CCP is interfering with Hong Kong's internal affairs, and have been trampling our city's autonomy, freedom and democracy. I don't give a flying fuck on when they are going to arrest me, but I will definitely still StandWithHongKong FightForFreedom

GREAT LAW,IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DECLARED RIGHT AT THE HANDE OVER ,TOO BAD THE CHINESE WERE NOT FAMILIAR THE AGGRESSION OF THE BRITISH ,THEY NEVER LIVE ,TILL THE HOST IS TOTALLY DEAD,LIKE ALL THE NATIONS IN ALL 5 CONTINENTES ,EVEN THE ANGLO SAXON 5-EYE NATIONS ,ARE QUEEN'S SUBJECTS

HK used to be one favorite cities in the world — fantastic place. This is a tragedy, such a shame.

Western governments are very fond of openly creating and promoting problems in foreign countries, and are upset when those countries take measures to defend themselves against such aggressions.

It's not controversial. Normal people welcome the law. Only those riots who try to seperate Hong Kong feel controversial.

Take back your minions lurking in Hong Kong.

First HongKong, and not surprisingly Taiwan could be next.

“controversial ' .LOL everytime west doesnt like sth , it would get its medias to use some 'controversial' words to make readers think that everyone feels controversial and it's bad . Time to stop western medias' dictating of narrative .

I bet Trump likes that list of new rules.

Western media, please stop your hypocrisy! Your countries all have similar laws. Hong Kong's national security law makes Hong Kong a safer place, and kicks away CIA and their henchmen in Hong Kong. I totally welcome this law!

This is actually long overdue. Good for the country. Sucks US cant follow suit.

China does not share our values - democracy, freedom, and the rule of law ... We see this in HongKong, where the new security law undermines its autonomy. The world must stand with the freedom loving people in hk or elsewhere in the world. BoycottChina

Perfect. Long overdue. Doomsday for traitors and spies.
