Electric vehicle owners pay $100 to register their vehicles in California, and that will increase over time, depending on the cost of the vehicle.

Q: You have touted the need for more help to repair our roads. However, you and others who rightfully promote the need for more electric vehicles fail to account for how those vehicles will pay their fair share moving forward, not to mention the overwhelming electrical infrastructure that will have to be established and maintained by none other than PG&E .

Will there be a mileage tax? Higher registration fees? EVs are great, but they cause the same wear and tear on the road as any other vehicle. There will be a massive tax shortfall in taxes as EVs become more popular. How will that be covered?A: Several ways. First, electric car owners are now paying $100 to register their vehicles and that fee will increase over time, depending on the cost of the car.

Q: I went through the Highway 101-Blossom Hill Road interchange and saw a flashing light with a “no turn on red” sign. A couple of days later, the light was off. What’s going on here?A: Digital “No Right Turn” signals have been installed here. Cars eastbound on Silver Creek Valley Road, westbound on Blossom Hill, and northbound on Coyote Creek Road must stop if the light is on.

A right turn on red is only allowed when the digital “No Right Turn” signals are off. For drivers, this change may take some getting used to. The soon-to-be-completed overcrossing will provide increased protection for bicyclists and pedestrians.three vehicle registrations all due in DecemberHe needs three accounts, or envelopes labeled April, August and December, with the amounts of the three vehicle registrations noted.

Q: While driving on northbound 101 through Redwood City a few years ago, some idiot tossed a rock off the pedestrian overcrossing, shattering my windshield. I don’t get it.
