Hidden surveillance cameras are the latest initiative being rolled out on New York City subway trains to combat crime and add another layer of safety for commuters.

A 24-year-old woman, held against her will and raped at a home in the Bronx, used a Grubhub food delivery order to alert police to her location.Richard Davey is the president of New York City Transit, which has installed cameras on 4,000 buses, but no trains.

It comes a day after the assault of a transit officer, patrolling a 3 train, alone, in East New York, Brooklyn. The officer was unhurt, but on Wednesday, the mayor evolved his plan. Now, cops can patrol as pairs again, but must spread out.But even the largest police department in the country can't put a cop everywhere.

lmaooo like criminals care

A Hidden camera with a laser to shoot at people and put them in a unconscious state if things get out of hand would be nice. Invest in that!

Sure. That will work 🙄 police can now identify and perhaps arrest perpetrators and right after that, the lefty DA will release them. Liberal “logic”

That’ll help catch those masked assailants! 😆 btw cameras don’t actually stop a slash in progress. We just get to watch the slashing video on the evening news

🤦‍♀️

Like the broken MTA cameras during the Brooklyn mass shooting?

yeah.

What good is cameras if the cops aren't around. we need heavy police presence at every station.

More footage of nothing getting done. Im sure it will be a bargain to have installed.

First you have to prosecute violent criminals and stop letting them back on the streets.

Cool. Now we can watch footage of the cops not showing up. The issue is policing. Not cameras. We need cops riding the trains and hanging out on platforms.

I kinda thought this was a thing already?
