I don’t believe Disney created the ride based on the movie. I believe they did it to fix their mistakes from the movie and create something better. Even though SM has characters similar to the film, the animatronics are actually reused from the America Sings show.

This was inevitable. I’m frankly surprised it didn’t happen sooner. Seems that few people knew the origins of these characters until recently.

Why not worry about ending the homeless problem instead of rebranding an amusement park ride to stir the pot? No one would know or care if some group didn't spend all day looking for crap like this to complain about.

No

They need to leave splash mountain alone it’s fine just the way it is

This is pretty silly considering the origins of the animated portions of the movie. 🤦‍♀️

Because people are stupid - You do realize that the ride is based on the animated portion of the movie, which is based on African folklore and stories slaves passed down right?

Y'all just targeted anything you can now are y'all

Nope. It’s staying.

Interesting. Leave it. People can then see that racism is so systemic, it's been in their faces at 'the happiest place on Earth' all the this time, and not many noticed. *Just don't hide the history. RacismInAmerica

Why Do People Act Against Their Own Better Judgement? How cognitive dissonance allows people to protect their health in some ways and threaten it in others, explains EM_Krockow EM_Krockow I picked up bourbon as a hobby in the past 6 months, so... EM_Krockow Interesting, but you lost me when you printed the racist word, “Caucasian.” Look it up its white supremacist etymology and do better next time. EM_Krockow For me, it is not so much cognitive dissonance as it is a cost/benefit analysis. If it is something that I really enjoy (benefit), I will probably do it even though there may be a relatively high cost. I don't know if this is just me. I tend to analyse most things I do.
