Here's how Sheryl Sandberg plunged from global icon to just another powerful tech executive

Sheryl Sandberg started the decade as chief operating officer of Facebook and a rising female business icon.

In previous years, this type of special assignment would've been out of the ordinary for Sandberg, theexecutive charged with growing the company's ad business and handling its communications.

Perhaps most importantly, Sandberg was charged with growing Facebook's revenue and advertising businesses in preparation for an inevitable IPO. The next month, Sandberg was rewarded for her work with a position on the Facebook board of directors. She was the first woman to join the board. But Sandberg's life took a tragic turn in May 2015. Sandberg's husband, Dave Goldberg, suffered a coronary arrhythmia and died while the two were vacationing in Punta Mita, Mexico.

She should retire; you can only fumble with data in a game, twice, before any coach would suggest a timeout; if Boeing had issues with simulation software, losing precious stuff to many, then how did FB not have the same equivalency?

Sheryl Sandberg is one of the smartest tech executives in the industry. Her and Mark have created not only immense value for Facebook users, but shareholders as well. Don't believe all the negative fluff you hear in the news demonizing Facebook. $FB
