Research suggests single-payer plans are projected to save the country money over time, many in their first year after being implemented.

"If we're spending less as a country and covering more people, more people are going to benefit," said Christopher Cai, lead author of the study and third-year medical student at the University of California, San Francisco.

Democratic 2020 presidential candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren stand together before the first night of the second 2020 Democratic presidential debate in Detroit, Michigan, July 30, 2019. Twenty plans -- more than 90% of those evaluated -- predicted savings over several years -- with savings accumulating over time.

We have the opportunity to design a h/c system that will work for us. The current system does not. Get to work! Make suggestions. Equal care for all.

What nobody is mentioning about single-payer is the “quality of care”. Have you been to a government run hospital in any of these countries that offer free health care? Tell me when something that was free was good!

Does anyone remember Obamacare Save millions, lower costs

Who believes studies anymore? ABC quotes a third year medical student for their article. OR FTI Consulting and the Partnership for America’s Health Care Future released a study finding Medicare for All could put 1.2 million healthcare jobs at risk

This study was literally a class assignment from a kid in his 3rd year of college. That's just out of an associates degree. Your first 2 years are pretty much all gen ed work meaning that he has barely even begun classes towards his major.

Omg get these two out of here. They will destroy everything I worked hard for. What do they care. They’re rich. Nothing affects them. Morons

You know I have worked in both sides of healthcare for over 20 years and I cannot begin to explain how naive and gullible the public is for thinking a single payer system will fix a multifaceted issue. There are so many levels at play here that nobody talks about.

The operative word is projected. It won’t.

“Research suggests” We’ve been here before. Notice how these Marxist policies begin with a “study” that then gets amplified by the “news” media to give it an air of authority. Then the politicians repeat the lie over and over. Obamacare

Name one thing the government does efficiently

Suggests means that it's not true.

And take those savings and increase the cost of individual taxes. Wait for months to see a doctor. Wait for referral approvals.

Besides the fact it will never work or happen. The affordable plans wont cover shit. Why cant the people in charge just be honest for the people that arent smart enough to think for themselves.

Single payer will not save money. Taxes would have to be raised to cover the expenses. All the workers in the private insurance sector would lose their jobs, (thousands unemployed).

Wake up stop getting high

Research by whom? The same clowns who said obamacare would save money?

Another got ya plan by socialist.

This is a propaganda lie Similar to the Obama care lies you supported. Single payer is astronomically more expensive

*reality It's never gonna happen. Working class mules will continue to carry the tax laod and the wealthy will hire more tax experts and lawyers to reduce tax liability 👍

A student/lead author says you can’t compare...but compares? Is this how we manage National Healthcare now? Kinda looks janky...

No. It's mathematically impossible. Are you even trying anymore?

Hold on....they had a STUDENT as lead author on this? You couldn’t get a healthcare policy expert to lead this work? Healthcare super complicated. Nobody else sees an issue with “Chris from your class” putting this together to shape national policy?

In the same way the ACA was supposed to lower costs for the average family? Why post a bullshit headline? Everyone knows nothing is free! What will pay for the massive bureaucracy to administer it?

You've been suggesting for 10 + years. How about factual numbers..

Single payer plans are a part of a larger system of healthcare. The problem is that the idea that the 170 million people covered by private insurance are just going to give this up is naive. Health insurance is a major part of compensation in most professions.

That makes about as much sense is ABC still have a news underneath their name. This is getting weird.

Health care questions for tonight's Democratic debateHealth care has been a go-to topic at nearly every DemDebate, and we don't expect that to change tonight — especially if Warren and Sanders are pressed on the gap between their support for single-payer. Here's what our health care reporters would ask: I want to hear about what the candidate's stand on Gun Violence I'm tired of the endless health care questions We've been round and round What about voter suppression or Criminal justice reform I won't be watching The BIGGEST question is: How is it possible just to erase the TRILLION dollar health insurance industry without ending up in epic endless court battles?
