Gasoline averaged $3.75 a gallon in Houston Monday, down 8 cents from a week ago and 21 cents from a month ago, according to the fuel-price tracking service GasBuddy. Prices here are still $1.21 a gallon higher than a year ago.
Nationally, gasoline prices also fell 8 cents a gallon over the week to an average $4.10 cents a gallon. The national average could drop below $4 a gallon later this week, GasBuddy said.The decline in gasoline prices mirrors the recent slide in oil prices as COVID lockdowns in China and high prices curb demand, while production increases, offsetting some of the losses in Russian oil due to the war in Ukraine.
