Mathis, who works at Houston Welders Supply and teaches welding part-time, then tried to pull the dog's collar off. He noted that the collar had a buckle, rather than some which snap on and off.Less than 20 seconds after the ordeal began, Mathis managed to get the collar off and grab the dog for its owner. He then pressed the elevator's button to try and get the dog's owner back, banging on the doors to try and let her know he got her dog.
Mathis told NBC News he hasn't been able to talk to his neighbor since the incident happened on Monday evening, but that he learned she was new to the building. It seemed to him that she didn't realize the dog, who was on a retractable lead, wasn't behind her because she didn't feel a tug on the leash.
A hero, wonderful. Very fortunate dog owner !
I know it works out in the end but I don’t think I have the balls to watch this video
That man is a hero!!
I’m sorry but that woman, the dog owner is an idiot.
Why the he’ll didn’t that owner make sure the dog was with her before she got on the elevator?
Heroes come in many forms. I don't want to diminish law enforcement or our great military force, but this guy is definitely a hero.
Reason why retractable leashes should be discontinued... accidents waiting to happen
Hero!❤️🐶
Gotta just love some people 🥰
dear anxiety, I’ve missed you but now I have seen this video. Welcome back.
She owes that man a drink
A guy named Johnny Mathis from Houston saves a dog two weeks before Christmas? I’m going to call bullshit on this story.
